Imperial College, London

Organisation:
Imperial College’s ISS (Intelligent Interactive Systems) Group
Time Period:
6 days over a two month period
Summary:
The ISS Group had a range of projects underway in the area of Software Agents. They felt that some aspects of their work might have some commercial potential. We ran a process called Rapid ITP, which looks for possible market opportunties. In this case we were looking for spinouts, licensing or potential industrial sponsorship deals that could happen within a one-year timeframe.
Client Benefits:
  • we identified 22 possible commercial applications in five main areas, some of which had not occured to the research group before.
  • IC Innovations, the commercial arm of Imperial, gained a clearer picture of the commercial possibilities for the research.
  • The research group found the process simulating and it suggested a number of new areas of research and possible funding to them.
  • It helped to promote the idea of commercialisation to the academic staff
